Unsurprisingly, the lineup for Perry Farrell’s Lollapalooza festival is stacked full of must-see acts from a wide variety of genres. Highlights include a reunited Black Sabbath, Sigur Rós (in what should be a grandiose evening set), Jack White and a reunited At The Drive-In. The festival takes place August 3rd through the 5th. See the full lineup here.
2. The Weeknd
Abel Tesfaye had, to put it modestly, an incredibly successful 2011 campaign without even dropping an official album. Despite releasing three critically lauded and extremely popular mixtapes, he has yet to perform live in the United States. That will change this weekend at Coachella, yet it was announced this week that The Weeknd will also tour the United States in addition to this performance. The trek takes place in the US from April to the end of May, with an appearance at Lollapalooza in August. Check out the tour dates here.
Fuzz-rockers Yuck lived up to the hype last year, releasing a nostalgically catchy self-titled debut. It skillfully recalled the alternative rock of the early ’90s, yet these London rockers were able to channel these influences into a sound that showed tremendous promise for the future. This week, the foursome dropped a new track entitled “Chew” in anticipation of the band’s performance at Coachella. Yuck urged those who planned to see them at the festival to “memorize the lyrics.”
