Press Hogs: Week of May 8th

1. Animal Collective

It’s been a good while since Merriweather Post Pavilion, so there has been no shortage of curiosity as to what direction the band’s sound will take on the long-awaited followup. During this past week, Animal Collective posted two brand-new songs available for streaming that made immediate headlines across the blogosphere. Both “Honeycomb” and “Gotham” do not disappoint, and only build anticipation for the group’s forthcoming 2012 release.

2. Jimi Hendrix, André 3000

A biopic of Jimi Hendrix, starring André 3000? It would seem an intriguing proposition, but it appears that the Hendrix Estate has a different opinion. Though All By My Side is allegedly in pre-production, the Estate has not approved the use of any original Jimi Hendrix music as of now.

3. Mick Jagger

Not only will the rock icon host Saturday Night Live on May 19th, but now it is rumored that Mick Jagger will also perform with musical guests Arcade Fire and Foo Fighters on that night as well. If true, this would be quite the season finale to the long-running SNL show.
